- Cologne-based company is a leader in connected building solutions
- enercity CEO Zapreva: "We are expanding the range of services for our customers"

The energy service provider enercity is taking the next step on its digitalization path and acquiring a stake in ROCKETHOME GmbH. Founded in 2010, the Cologne-based company is one of the pioneers of the Internet of Things (IoT) and has developed into a leading international provider of software-based solutions in the field of digital real estate management (Property Technology, PropTech). The aim of both partners is to actively shape the ongoing digitalization of cities, districts and real estate. In particular, by pooling their expertise, they aim to develop joint solutions that drive forward the energy transition and support sustainable, connected living. Rockethome offers a platform for networking energy management, digital administration and building automation that is in high demand across the industry. This is already being used in pioneering residential and commercial districts across Europe.

Expansion of service offerings for customers
"With the Rockethome service platform, we are expanding the range of services for our customers and offering products that make life easier and more convenient," said enercity CEO Dr. Susanna Zapreva. "Today, real estate is more than just concrete and steel - it is increasingly becoming a digital structure thanks to sensor technology. The aim of Rockethome is to make the benefits of this development accessible to as many people as possible," said founder and Managing Director Yüksel Sirmasac. "I am delighted that we have found a strong partner in enercity, with whom we can tap into market potential more quickly and expand our range of services to include energy-related expertise such as e-mobility services."

Long-standing collaboration: first joint products already on the market
Rockethome and enercity have been working together for many years and have already launched innovative products together. In addition to a digital solution for short-term landlords (temporary living) and users of so-called co-working spaces (New Work Spaces), a 360-degree software platform for the real estate and housing industry was recently brought to market maturity. With the enercity Property Manager, real estate companies create individual experiences for their customers in the living and working environment (digital property management). This enables them to drive the expansion of smart neighborhoods in cities and at the same time manage their real estate portfolios more efficiently.

Managers from the housing industry: less effort and costs
Business customers from the real estate industry benefit above all from digital housing management and the resulting new points of contact with tenants. Access to the property is networked: landlords unlock the front door and apartment door for residents at the click of a mouse or via push on a smartphone. After moving out, owners or managers can check that all doors and windows are really closed via a virtual remote check. And during the rental period, they inform residents in near real time about disruptions, construction work or events in the neighborhood. The benefits: Processes become leaner, communication simpler and the administrative burden lower.

Owners and tenants: More time for analog life
End customers also gain more time for analog life thanks to Rockethome: Thanks to the digital door lock, viewings are done without time pressure, without estate agents and only when it suits. Once they move in, tenants can equip their home with additional smart components via a store system. But the app can do even more: is the elevator broken, the fridge out of order, has the heating failed or is there any other damage to report? No problem: take a photo, write a memo and the job is done.

Expansion of the shareholder base
enercity, as a strategic partner from the energy industry, ideally complements the existing Rockethome shareholder base with investors Diehl Ventures, KfW Bankengruppe, Born2Grow and founder Yüksel Sirmasac. This creates the ideal conditions for successfully expanding the company's growth.

Market potential remains high
According to surveys by Statista, sales in the smart home market in Germany alone will amount to around 5.5 billion euros in 2021. In the building automation segment, the consulting firm Arthur D. Little expects a sales potential of almost 21 billion euros by 2035. Market experts see the growth rate for smart city solutions as a whole at more than 15 percent per year until 2025. enercity is also forecasting a rapidly growing market for automation and networking solutions in buildings.
